CMLIE is proud to announce the pilot school implementation in False Bay Primary School (FBPS), located in Macassar, Cape Town. The CMLIE-FBPS collaboration sets the foundation for the future laboratory school network dissemination in the continent of Africa

The School
False Bay Primary School
Founded in January 2018, in response to local educational needs, False Bay Primary School (FBPS) started from humble beginnings in a cluster of mobile classrooms. Under the leadership of Principal Desmond Engelbrecht since 2019, FBPS was equipped with a library in August 2024 and upgraded to their brick-and-motar mega-campus in March 2025. As of July 2025, FBPS serve 2011 students from the Macassar community.
FBPS will also be the pioneer site within the continent of Africa to implement the CMLIE program. The CMLIE implementation in FBPS features daily musical literacy lessons that improve learners’ language, mathematics and social-emotional skills and aims to become the epicentre of an expanding “laboratory school” network across the country.
